The Lyceum Folk Club of Newport provides Acoustic music every Thursday at the Lyceum Tavern in Malpas Road Newport, less than 100 metres from J26 of the M4 on the Newport side.  There is usually ample parking in Malpas Road just up from the pub, but get there early on guest nights.

Lyceum Picture

The Lyceum Tavern has been hosting Folk music in Newport for many years and we took over that tradition four years ago next month.
Come along to play or just listen to others.  We welcome ALL acoustic instruments and musical styles and players from beginners to virtuosos.  We are not averse to a bit of poetry or purple prose from time to time either.

We use the Function Room upstairs at the back and the atmosphere is terrific, whether there's just a few of us or a packed house.  Come along and find out for yourself!.
We charge 2.00 on the door, except when we have a Guest Artist when you will have to pay a bit more  Find out how much here.

Doors open 8pm on Guest Nights and 8:30pm on Singer's Nights.

Please see our Links page to access other Folk-, Music- and Dance-related websites and find Live music venues and Festivals.

We also have a FaceBook page managed by one of our regulars.  He is also called Trevor, and is a proper Welshman from here in Newport, unlike me, although I've lived here a while now.  Please check it out for an alternative view on what the club is about.

Please browse our Web site for more information about the Lyceum Folk Club of Newport.
